"Leading the way so you can go further"

Grounded Boots Relief is a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides post-disaster reconnaissance, communication, and logistical support across the Southeast. We work alongside emergency managers, VOADs, and local partners to deliver real-time information and critical aid where it’s needed most. Join us in leading the way, so others can go further.

Who We Are

Born in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in 2024, Grounded Boots Relief was founded to fill a critical gap in early disaster response. Our dedicated team of volunteers is committed to stepping into action when every second counts. We specialize in reaching the hardest-hit, often isolated areas—delivering relief supplies, clearing debris, and providing immediate support to survivors.

Our Mission

We show up in times of crisis to independently observe and report on rapidly changing conditions, providing reliable information to emergency services and relief organizations so they can act with clarity and confidence.

Our Values

Grounded Boots Relief is built on readiness, service, integrity, resilience, and collaboration. We prepare before disaster strikes so we can act quickly when it matters most. We put people first, showing up in their hardest moments. We believe in building strength in communities and in ourselves, and we know we go further together. We are inclusive in all we do, serving people of every religion, race, gender, and orientation without exception.

How We Assist and Collaborate

EMERGENCY MANAGERS

Grounded Boots Relief supports emergency management operations through field logistics, access, and real-time situational awareness. Our primary capability is off-road transportation, moving personnel, equipment, and critical resources into areas where standard access is limited or compromised, including targeted delivery of essentials such as generators, propane, and water.

Our teams deploy as a self-sufficient resource, operating with their own equipment and communications to avoid drawing on local capacity. ICS-trained volunteers document conditions with geo-tagged imagery, identify access routes and constraints, and provide concise situation reports to inform staging, routing, and resource allocation. When communications are degraded, we establish radio and satellite links to maintain information flow.

VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS

We are a member of NCVOAD and work closely with VOAD partners and response agencies to strengthen coordination, reduce duplication, and increase impact. Our current operations focus on off-road transportation, moving personnel, equipment, and critical resources into areas that are difficult to access. We also support information dissemination by sharing real-time field updates that help partners make informed decisions. By strengthening both access and communication, we help ensure teams and supplies reach the right places quickly and efficiently, with targeted delivery of essentials like generators, propane, and water when needed.

LOCAL COMMUNITIES

We work alongside local leaders to identify immediate needs, from access clearing to welfare checks. When situations necessitate, our teams can help deliver generators, MREs, water, and propane, and provide reconnaissance that connects unmet needs to VOAD networks and local services for continued support.
